Be inspired by light
At dusk, you can see how light affects life. The coldness of the approaching night and the lack of light stifle the life that flourished just moments earlier and also affect us humans. Before harnessing the fire, darkness meant a potentially lurking threat in the shadows and caused people to retreat to shelter as the sun went down. As the sun dawns, the increasing light awakens all living life to yet another glory. Light is essential to life, and not just as a tool for seeing. It can also be food, vitamin and medicine – or, when mis-timed, even poison.
In addition to visual perception, light also affects the instincts, moods and mental activity through the body’s hormonal function. By no other means can the atmosphere be affected in the same way as light. The warm flames of the candle create an intimate atmosphere and the coloured festive light can be used to paint flamboyant light spectacles and different experiences.
Modern lighting technology enables the implementation of highly variable and dynamic lighting in different spaces. Light intensities can be changed, as well as colour temperatures.
Artificial lights can be used to create various effects that mimic natural light, such as fire flame, northern lights, twinkling stars and mind-stimulating therapy lighting.
